Foote, Julia A.J.
How is sanctification to be obtained? An important question. I answer, by faith. Faith is the only condition of sanctification. By this I mean a faith that dies out to the world and every form of sin; that gives up the sin of the heart; and that believes, according to God's promise, he is able to perform, and will do it now--doeth it now.
Why not yield, believe, and be sanctified now--now, while reading? "Now is the day of
salvation." Say: "Here, Lord, I will, I do believe; thou hast said now--now let it
be--now apply the blood of Jesus to my waiting, longing soul."
"Hallelujah! 'tis done!
I believe on the Son;
I am saved by the blood
Of the crucified One."

1. Mixture of joy and sor - row daily do I pass through;
2. Sometimes I am ex - alt - ed, On eagle's wings I fly;
3. Sometimes I am indoubting, And think I have no grace;
Sometimes I'am in the valley, Then sinking down with woe.
Ris - ing above Mount Pisgah, I almost reach the sky.
Sometimes I am a-shouting, And camp-meeting is the place.
Holy, holy, holy is the Lamb, Who saves me from all sin, from all
Holy, holy, holy is the lamb, Whose blood doth make me clean!
4. sometimes, when I am praying,
It almost sems a task;
Sometimes I get a blessing,
The greatest I can ask.
5. Sometimes I read by Bible,
It almost seems a task;
Sometimes I find a blessing
Wherever I do look.
6. O, why am I thus tossed
Thus tossed to and fro?
Because the blood of Jesus
Hasn't washed me white as snow.
7. Oh, come to Christ, the Savior,
Drink of that living stream;
Your thirst he'll quench forever
And cleanse you from all sin.
Now, dear reader, I conclude by praying that this little work may be blessed of God to your spiritual and everlasting good. I trust also that it will promote the cause of holiness in the Church.
Now, unto Him who is able to do exceeding abundantly, above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us; unto Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen.
