Adolph MüHlmann
(1865-1938), Russian baritone, studied in
Vienna and made his debut in Rotterdam. He sang with the Metropolitan for
twelve seasons, 1898 to 1910. Following his debut as Biterolf, on November 29,
1898, that season he also sang Gunther, the Herald in Lohengrin, and Fasolt. During 1902-03, in addition to Telramund, he
appeared as the King in Aida, Melot, Donner, St. Bris
in Huguenots, the Wanderer (replacing Van Rooy),
Kothner, Peter in Der Wald, and a Priest in
The Magic Flute. For five months and fifty-one
performances, he was paid $3,693.57. He took part in the Met premieres
of Manru, Fledermaus, Fedora, Madama Butterfly,
Zigeunerbaron, The Bartered Bride, Parsifal, and Salome. The last years of his life were spent in Chicago, where he was a
