, German character tenor, sang with the Metropolitan during 1890-91, the last of the German seasons, appearing first as Heinrich in Tannhäuser, November 28, 1890, and later as Jaquino in Fidelio, Erik in Der fliegende Holländer, David in Meistersinger, and smaller roles. He returned for the 1896-97 season, and for the last time in 1900-01, when he was heard again as Heinrich, Jaquino, and David, and also sang De Tavannes and De Cossé in Huguenots, Mime in Rheingold and Siegfried, the Steersman and Shepherd in Tristan, and Remendado in Carmen. For singing fifty performances, he was paid $1,550.
