Holdings of Canadian belles-lettres are adequate, although usually without copies of first or early editions. Among the resources are the works of Stephen Leacock, the historical novels of John Richardson,25
the comic stories of Thomas C. Haliburton, and the well-known novels of Mazo De La Roche. Poetry is well represented with examples of the work of Charles Heavysege, Isabella Crawford, William Kirby, Edwin J. Pratt, and Patrick Anderson, among many others.
The Berg Collection lists a number of Bliss Carman first editions, many of them presentation copies, and a typescript of his "Sappho Lyrics" with manuscript corrections. There are also thirteen letters dating from 1906 and 1907, most of them addressed to Hildegarde Hawthorne. Supplementing these are fifteen examples of privately printed or limited editions of Carman's works in the Rare Book Division.
