NEW ZEALAND LITERATURE

The collection of New Zealand literary criticism is not extensive; currently the library receives five literary magazines from New Zealand. Katherine Mansfield is perhaps the best-represented New Zealand writer. The Berg Collection has first editions of her works including The Garden Party (1922) and seventeen letters from her, among which fourteen (dated 1917 to 1919) are to Virginia Woolf. Also in the Berg Collection are letters relating to Katherine Mansfield from other English writers. Current acquisition policies ensure that copies of recent belles-letters publications of New Zealand are received.
