HISTORY OF WESTERN EUROPE

This chapter is concerned with European history, and includes the history of Great Britain, France, Germany, Austria-Hungary, the Mediterranean and Iberian Peninsulas, and other European countries. The library holds approximately 300,000 books and pamphlets relating to the history of these nations; this estimate does not include public documents, works in such allied fields as sociology and archaeology, or manuscript materials. Table 2 indicates the growth of the collections in this area.
