Guide to the Research Collections
GRAPHOLOGY AND BOOK ARTS AND PRODUCTION
The library's general works on book arts number some 30,000 volumes, excluding the numerous examples of fine illustrated books and notable bindings in the collections, and technical works on paper and ink which are the collecting responsibility of the Science and Technology Research Center. The collections in this field are generally strong; the collecting policy is comprehensive for most of the subsections described below. The principal resources in the various fields of the book arts are located in the general collections with the following major exceptions: materials on book illustrations (as opposed to illuminations) are in the Prints Division; editions noted for their fine illustrations or bindings are collected particularly by the Spencer Collection; and the publications of special presses are a strong feature of the Rare Book Division.
