Guide to the Research Collections
Victor Hugo Paltsits in Bibliographical Essays; a Tribute to Wilberforce Eames (Cambridge, Mass.: Harvard University Press, 1924; reprinted New York: B. Franklin, 1968), p. 22. Professor Legge died in 1897, and at least portions of his library had been acquired by James Tregaskis, the London bookseller, from whom Eames purchased choice works over a period of time. The other half of the Eames general Chinese collection, of some 1,553 lots, including Korean materials, was purchased by the Case Memorial Library, Hartford, Connecticut.
